I have shot several derringes over the years and they were fair to poor on accuracy. This 3 1/2″ barrel really makes a difference in point of aim/point of impact, and the 3 1/2″ barrel is SASS legal for competition.

recently purchased .357/.38spcl in 3.5in. fit/finish excellent. Fired 25 each of .38, and .357 of my hand loads loaded full power for personal protection.. impressed on how deep fireing pin strikes. this is a good thing especally with magnum primers, because you want it to go BANG. no misfires, ejection was easy. happy with grouping. for practice at rang recomend using .38spcl. recoil from .357 I would say is about equal to 2.5in .410. which is manageable, and not excessive for me. (My wrist reminded me the next day that it is not a range gun to shoot all day) but .that is not the reason to buy a derringer. .22 would be excellant for practice to get used to handling and fireing gun. just my opinion. again very happy with gun also(snake slayer)

Just bought a Texas defender 357/38. Great little gun. Surprising accuracy for a derringer. Completely satisfied. Will buy 45 LC/410 barrel Very soon. Would like the option of shot shells for snakes at the cabin.
